Reading Reflection

The art of social media power tips for power users guy Kawasaki  1) What was the general theme or argument of the book? This book's general theme were tips for social media users on how to better network with others. Examples of this include Pinterest and how to better your personal brand on sites such as LinkedIn and others. It also discusses other aspects of social media such as the negative connotations of it. In general it shows how people know the basics but misuse certain resources offered to them.  2)  How did the book, in your opinion, connect with and enhance what you are learning in ENT 3003? This book helped me understand how business run online as well as in stores and the importance of social media for marketing purposes. This attracts more customers and it helps with the companies reputation. 3)  If you had to design an exercise for this class, based on the book you read, what would that exercise involve? The exeercise would be trying different ...

Your Exit Strategy

My exit strategy in the future is to move to another sector in business while keeping this business going. I think anyone can be capable of operating my business because is pretty self explanatory and there should not be any confusion on how to control it. I would like to be recognized as the guy that helped many generations of students be alive and eat properly every day of their lives. T his exit strategy has influenced the other decisions I've made in my concept because I won't expand to other Universities, just like Study Edege, I wanted to be a UF signature that keeps going for years.

Celebrating Failure

I failed to try to wake up early every day and have a more productive day. My goal was to wake up every day at 7, go to the gym and have the rest of the day opened to do school/work stuff but that never happened. I kept sleeping super late and waking up super late as well.  I learned from this failure that I need to be more consistent and set realistic goals for my daily life. I know there is a point where I will be able to accomplish my morning goal but this is not something that will happen out of nowhere, it requires discipline and a strong will to do it. Maybe I enjoy to much my sleep and that is the reason I haven't been able to do it, but I know its a habit I can adopt later in my life. Failure is always a good thing, failure demonstrates that you at least tried and you can change what made you fail to achieve success. This applies to everything in life, failure is a powerful tool to makes us stronger, only the weak will vanish and back up when facing fai...

Venture Concept No. 1

My opportunity belief is a service for all UF students starting with freshmen that have no idea on how to cook but the other market is for parents that don't have the time or any idea on how to cook. Today, college students eat trash and that is why so many diseases and obesity is going around like crazy. Even one of my roommates has the same problem of eating cereal 4 times a day instead of actually meal prepping something full of nutrients and rich of protein to survive each day. This ideology of people eating shit is strong and the excuse everyone gives is the lack of cooking knowledge or even just to buy food, students have no idea of what to buy.  My service will provide the students who wish to have a healthier diet on how to buy, cook and eat appropriately . They can do so by registering my mobile app or website and getting updated lists of more than 50 recipes per protein to make. It is really interactive and full of good stuff for them.  Once they register, they...

What's Next

Existing market: What makes the most sense to grow in my existing market is to make advertisements on social media and give conferences at the University of Florida for people to know the company. That way all the students will know the benefits of being part of this company and how much it will save them on a daily basiThis factors will make it easier to approach college students and for them to get comfortable with the company. I feel my company will expand [peoples knowledge on food and cooking skills. New market: The new market I tried to target was parents that don't have experience cooking or that their job is so time consuming is barely impossible for them to cook. People would rather learn the basics and actually get hands on the kitchen than fuck up everytime they cook. My expectations about this new market were correct because of previous consumer questionnaires I have done and family leaders like it a lot. For me and the high evolvement of my company...

Your Venture’s Unfair Advantage

Generate a list of all of the resources in your venture (produce a list of at least 10 resources that you already possess).  My sister is amazing in website design so she can teach me on how to create it. Prior Experience on E-Commerce. There is only one competitor with the same idea but it doesn't include recipes like my website will, so that gives me a competitive advantage over them.  My target is UF students which I have a daily direct contact with them. I have a contact with Aldy's and Walmart that helps me measure the prices of food in two different big competitors. The plan is to give something back to our planet so the whole concept of the company will be eco-friendly and a percentage of profit will be used to help organizations help the planet. It's a nice interactive app that young people will understand and get along pretty well.  I have the support of family members that own their own businesses and have the knowledge on how to...

Elevator Pitch No. 3

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ouhtpSkxrc - I did not get any feedback from my first elevator pitch and I did not upload one for the second elevator pitch. I did change my tone and the seriousness required for a professional elevator pitch.

Reading Reflection No. 2

Makers: The New Industrial Revolution Chris Anderson This book talks about the idea that anyone will be able to create their own products through 3D printers. The book encouraged me, even more, to be an entrepreneur because of the ability and easy going that anyone can be one. With a good plan and determination, I can achieve my goal of providing products/services to the community. It also helped my understanding of how technology is helping future generations become more efficient and better people to develop new products. The craziest thing about this book is those big companies such as Samsung or Apple can go out of the game just because of the use of a 3D Printer. This is a fantastic idea but at the same time, the humans are playing with the "I can do everything role" instead to assist to a well-oriented company that knows specifically about their products or services. This has become one of my favorite books, I highly recommend you guys to read it!!

Growing Your Social Capital

1) One person must be a domain expert in your industry.   I contacted Thomas Werner, he is my best friend's brother from home and he graduated from UF friend this past Fall. He did an internship with Aldis and now works at Anheuser Busch. He told me how Aldis work and also gave me ideas on how to do e-commerce with food. His major is "food and resource economics," so he knows what he is talking about. 2) One person must be an expert on your market.   I spoke with Areli Jacobs, she is my sister, studied in London and even though she studied something not related at all with food, she did a market research on what college students look for today. There is a huge need for students that don't know what to buy to make food and how to implement good recipes in their lives. 74% of the students in that study agreed with that point of view.  3) One person must be an important supplier to your industry.   I had a talk w...
